The Walter Surface Technologies 54B009 Surfox Marking Kit is a specialized accessory designed to expand the functionality of Surfox electrochemical weld cleaning systems. This kit enables operators to perform permanent electrochemical marking and etching on stainless steel surfaces, utilizing the power source of the Surfox unit (such as the Surfox 104, 204, 304, or Mini). The process uses a low-voltage electrical current combined with a marking electrolyte to permanently alter the surface of the metal through a stencil, creating high-contrast, durable marks.

The kit is centered around a standard marking wand equipped with a high-purity graphite tip. Graphite is chosen for its excellent electrical conductivity and resistance to the heat and chemical reactions involved in the marking process. The tip is covered by a specialized marking pad, which holds the electrolyte solution (sold separately, typically Surfox M) against the workpiece. When the circuit is completed through the stencil, the electrochemical reaction occurs instantly.
