OVERVIEW

Precision Engineering for Soft Metal Applications

The Walter 01V995 Carbide Burr 5-Piece Kit is a specialized tooling solution engineered specifically for the challenges of machining and finishing non-ferrous metals. Standard double-cut or diamond-cut burrs often fail when applied to soft materials like aluminum, copper, and brass because the material tends to "load" or pack into the flutes, rendering the cutting edges ineffective and generating excessive heat. This kit addresses that metallurgical challenge with a specific Non-Ferrous (NF) flute geometry. The wide, open gullets and aggressive relief angles allow for rapid chip evacuation, ensuring the cutting edge remains engaged with the workpiece rather than riding on packed debris.

Manufactured from premium micro-grain tungsten carbide, these burrs offer exceptional hardness and wear resistance, maintaining their geometry even under the high thermal loads associated with high-speed die grinding. The manufacturing process ensures strict concentricity between the head and the 1/4-inch hardened steel shank. This balance is critical for minimizing runout and vibration at operating speeds that can exceed 20,000 RPM, thereby protecting both the operator from fatigue and the pneumatic or electric tool from premature bearing wear.

The kit includes a strategic assortment of the five most commonly utilized shapes in industrial fabrication: Cylindrical, Cylindrical with Radius, Tree, Ball, and Cone. This variety allows the operator to access diverse geometries, from surface leveling and edge breaking to contouring and hole enlargement. By providing a dedicated set for non-ferrous applications, facility managers and tool cribs can ensure that technicians have the correct tooling for the material at hand, preventing the cross-contamination and inefficiency that occurs when general-purpose tools are misused on soft alloys.
