Standard grinding wheels often fail when applied to soft metals due to "loading"—a process where the soft metal melts and adheres to the abrasive grain, rendering the wheel smooth and ineffective. The ALU™ series utilizes a proprietary abrasive blend and bond system that resists this clogging, ensuring consistent material removal throughout the life of the wheel.

Measuring 4-1/2 inches in diameter with a 1/8-inch thickness and a 7/8-inch arbor, this Type 27 depressed center wheel is versatile enough for both grinding and cutting applications. The 1/8-inch profile provides sufficient rigidity for light grinding tasks, such as smoothing welds or deburring, while remaining thin enough to perform cutting operations when necessary.
