FAQ

The 5-HBN tip is designed for use with Propane or Natural Gas. It is not suitable for Acetylene.

A size 5 Victor cutting tip typically has a cutting capacity of approximately 4 to 5 inches of steel, depending on pressure settings and operator skill.

It fits Victor heavy-duty torches that accept the large 300 series tips, including the Victor Bulldog (HC 1100) torch. It does not fit the smaller 100 series handles.

While it produces a preheat flame, it is a cutting tip designed for severing metal. For dedicated heating applications, a rosebud heating tip is recommended.

Propane is generally much cheaper than Acetylene and has a higher total heat output (BTUs) for long cuts on thick material, making it more economical for high-volume scrap cutting.

Since it is a two-piece tip, you can separate the outer shell from the inner member to clean the splines and seating surfaces. Use a soft wire brush or tip cleaner designed for two-piece tips.

The 5-HBN is a two-piece tip, which is the standard design for Propane and Natural Gas cutting tips to ensure proper gas mixing and flame stability.

HBN generally stands for Heavy-duty, Bulldog, Natural gas (and Propane). It designates the tip's series and intended application.
