Technically, the SC960 features a three-tube construction design. This architecture is critical for safety and longevity, as it keeps the fuel gas and oxygen separated within stainless steel tubes until they reach the mixing chamber in the tip. This "in-tip" mix design virtually eliminates the risk of flashback within the handle and prevents mixing tube burnout, a common failure point in standard torches. The torch head is manufactured from thick-wall Manganese Bronze, a material selected for its extreme durability and resistance to heat warping, ensuring the head maintains its geometry even after prolonged exposure to reflected heat in deep cuts.

Operational control is enhanced through the "Ease-On" cutting oxygen valve. This feature allows for the gradual application of cutting oxygen, which is essential for piercing thick plate without causing excessive slag blow-back or key-holing.
