The Smith SC770 is a heavy-duty, two-hose machine cutting torch designed for precision industrial applications. Engineered to support a cutting capacity of up to 12 inches (305 mm), this torch is versatile enough to operate with Acetylene, LP, or Natural Gas, depending on the selected cutting tips. The unit features an 8-inch overall length (OAL) with a standard barrel diameter of 1-3/8 inches (9.5 mm), ensuring compatibility with the vast majority of beveling machines and track burners currently in use.

Mechanically, the SC770 is built for reliability and ease of maintenance. It utilizes a rack pitch of 32-10 teeth per inch, allowing for smooth gear engagement and precise torch positioning during operation. The barrel itself is adjustable, capable of rotating to four distinct positions at 90-degree increments, which facilitates optimal hose routing and access to controls regardless of the machine configuration. Flow control is managed via stainless steel ball-type valves, which offer superior durability compared to needle valves and ensure positive shut-off to prevent gas leakage.

A critical technical feature is the "ease-on" cutting oxygen lever. This mechanism is designed to gradually introduce cutting oxygen, thereby minimizing the violent reaction often associated with piercing thick plate. This reduction in blowback not only protects the torch and machine components but also significantly extends the service life of the cutting tips.
