The Miller Smith SC12-00 is a precision-engineered heavy-duty cutting tip designed specifically for use with acetylene gas. As part of the renowned SC12 Series, this tip is manufactured to meet the rigorous demands of industrial metal cutting applications. The SC12-00 is a Size 00 tip, calibrated to deliver a cutting capacity of approximately 3/16 inch (5 mm) in mild steel. This makes it an ideal choice for light-to-medium fabrication work where precision and edge quality are paramount.

One of the defining technical characteristics of the SC12-00 is its construction. Smith Equipment utilizes a fully swaged manufacturing process using high-quality copper. This swaging process creates an internal surface that is exceptionally smooth, minimizing turbulence in the gas flow. Laminar gas flow is critical for achieving clean cuts with minimal slag accumulation, thereby reducing post-cut grinding and cleanup time. Furthermore, the tip features a concave-shaped end. This specific geometry is engineered to protect the tip orifices from damage and, more importantly, to help reduce the occurrence of backfire and resist flameout during operation, even when the tip is brought into close proximity with the workpiece.

The tip seats against a recessed, heat-resistant material that ensures a positive, leak-proof seal every time. This design not only speeds up tip changes but also protects the seating surfaces from the wear and tear associated with wrench-tightened metal-to-metal seals.
