Part of the renowned SC12 Series, this Size 5 tip is designed to handle substantial material thicknesses, offering a cutting range of approximately 6 to 8 inches (152 mm to 203 mm). It is manufactured specifically for use with Smith Equipment's heavy-duty combination torches, hand cutting torches (including the "Gas Axe"), and compatible machine torches.

Technically, the SC12-5 stands out due to its swaged copper construction. Unlike drilled tips, the swaging process creates ultra-smooth internal gas passages that minimize turbulence. This results in a stable, high-velocity preheat flame and a cutting stream that produces clean, precise cuts with significantly reduced slag accumulation. The tip features Smith's proprietary "Slip-In" design, which utilizes a recessed, heat-resistant seat. This allows the operator to install the tip by hand-tightening only—no wrench is required—ensuring a perfect, positive seal every time while protecting the seating surface from nicking and wear.

Safety is paramount in the design of the SC12-5. It employs the "In-Tip Mix" principle, where oxygen and acetylene are mixed only within the tip itself, rather than in the torch head or tubes.
