The Smith SC40-2 is a premium heavy-duty cutting tip designed to deliver exceptional performance when using alternative fuel gases such as propane, natural gas, and propylene. Engineered by Miller Smith, this Size 2 tip provides a clean and efficient cut on steel plates up to 1-1/4 inches (32 mm) thick. It is specifically constructed as a two-piece assembly, featuring a brass inner member and a copper outer shell. This design allows for the specific preheat requirements of slower-burning alternative fuels, ensuring that the flame remains stable and hot enough to initiate and maintain the cut without wasting gas.

Safety and durability are at the forefront of the SC40 series design. One of the standout features is the In-Tip Gas Mixing technology. Unlike standard torches that mix gases in the handle or tubes, Smith SC tips mix the oxygen and fuel gas within the tip itself. This significantly reduces the volume of mixed gas present in the system, thereby isolating potential backfires to the tip and protecting the operator and the torch handle. Additionally, the tip features a concave-shaped end.
