The Smith SC60-6 is a high-performance, heavy-duty cutting tip engineered specifically for use with propylene and propylene-based fuel gases. As a Size 6 component within the SC60 series, this tip represents the upper echelon of cutting capacity for standard hand and machine operations, capable of severing material up to 12 inches (305 mm) in thickness. The unit features a two-piece construction with a medium preheat configuration, optimized to balance the high heat release of propylene with the oxygen requirements necessary for deep section cutting.

A defining technical characteristic of the SC60 series is the proprietary In-Tip Gas Mixing technology. Unlike head-mix torches where gases combine in the handle, this tip acts as a precision-engineered mixer. This design ensures that the preheat oxygen and fuel gas are combined only at the point of use, significantly improving efficiency and safety. By keeping the volume of mixed gas to an absolute minimum within the system, the SC60-6 greatly reduces the potential energy available for a flashback. Note that it exceeds the capacity of DG200 and SC200 Series Cutting Attachments, which are limited to size SC60-5.
