OVERVIEW

Heavy-Duty Heating Power for Tough Jobs

When you need to bend, straighten, or prime heavy steel sections, the MFA-12 Victor Style Heating Head is the tool for the job. Often referred to as a "rosebud," this multi-flame tip is designed to deliver a massive amount of heat quickly and efficiently. It is an essential accessory for any industrial metalworker dealing with structural steel, heavy piping, or equipment repairs.

This heating head is engineered to fit standard Victor-style 300 and 310 series torch handles, making it a versatile addition to your existing heavy-duty oxy-fuel kit. The #12 size indicates a high-capacity output, suitable for heating large surface areas rapidly. Whether you are correcting a warped beam or preheating a thick joint before welding to prevent cracking, the MFA-12 provides the thermal energy required to get the metal to the right temperature.

Built for durability, this tip withstands the intense reflected heat generated during operation. It uses Oxy-Acetylene fuel, known for its high flame temperature, ensuring that you can bring your workpiece up to working heat in record time. Don't struggle with undersized tips on big jobs; upgrade to the MFA-12 for professional-grade heating performance.

FAQ

The MFA-12 is designed exclusively for use with Oxygen and Acetylene. Do not use it with Propane, Propylene, or Natural Gas.

This tip fits Victor-style 300, 310, and 315 series heavy-duty torch handles.

No, the MFA-12 is too large for the medium-duty 100 series handles. It requires a heavy-duty 300 series handle for proper fitment and gas flow.

MFA tips are designed for Acetylene gas. MFN tips are designed for alternative fuels like Propane or Natural Gas. They have different internal geometries and are not interchangeable.

These heating heads typically screw directly into the heavy-duty handle or a compatible extension tube/mixer assembly depending on the specific handle configuration, but generally, they are complete heating assemblies for the 300 series.

Popping usually indicates a 'starved' tip (insufficient gas flow) or the tip is too close to the work. Ensure your regulator pressures are set correctly for a size #12 tip and that your acetylene cylinder has enough capacity.

Use a standard tip cleaner set. Select the wire size that fits the small orifices on the face of the rosebud without forcing it, and gently clean out carbon deposits.

Because of the high volume of acetylene required, you must ensure you do not exceed the withdrawal rate of your cylinder. You may need to manifold two or more acetylene cylinders together to run this tip safely.
