OVERVIEW

Precision Control for High Purity and Corrosive Gases

The Miller Smith 323-00-25-00-00 High Purity Two-Stage Regulator is a premier solution from the 320 Silverline Series, engineered specifically to meet the rigorous demands of laboratory, petrochemical, and industrial specialty gas applications. When working with corrosive gases or environments requiring ultra-high purity, standard materials often fall short. This regulator addresses those challenges with a robust 316 stainless steel bar stock body and wetted parts, ensuring long-term durability and resistance to chemical attack.

One of the defining features of this model is its two-stage regulation mechanism. Unlike single-stage regulators that may allow delivery pressure to drift as the supply cylinder empties (the decaying inlet characteristic), this two-stage unit provides a constant, unwavering delivery pressure throughout the life of the cylinder. This is critical for analytical instruments and processes where pressure stability directly impacts results. The unit offers a delivery range of 0-250 PSIG, making it versatile for a wide array of process requirements.

Safety and integrity are paramount in the design of the 323-00-25-00-00. It features a metal-to-metal diaphragm seal, which provides superior leak integrity compared to elastomeric seals, minimizing the risk of gas contamination or atmospheric ingress. The diaphragm itself is a convoluted stainless steel component designed for sensitive pressure response and precise control. Furthermore, the regulator includes captured vent ports (1/16” FNPT) in the bonnet. This critical safety feature allows operators to pipe hazardous or toxic gases away to a safe scrubbing or ventilation system in the unlikely event of a diaphragm failure.

Additional engineering refinements include a 316 stainless steel filtered seat utilizing PCTFE material, which aids in maintaining gas stream purity and extending the service life of the regulator by preventing particulate damage. The regulator is also designed to withstand internal vacuums, making it suitable for purge cycles essential in high-purity gas handling. Note that for hazardous gas service, a Cross Purge Assembly is recommended to ensure effective removal of toxic traces during cylinder change-outs.
