OVERVIEW

Precision Control for High Purity Applications

The Miller Smith 320 Series High Purity Two-Stage Regulator is engineered to meet the rigorous demands of specialty gas delivery. Designed specifically for applications requiring the handling of corrosive and non-corrosive gases, this regulator ensures that gas purity is maintained from the cylinder to the point of use. The unit features a body and wetted parts machined from 316 Stainless Steel, a material chosen for its superior resistance to chemical attack and corrosion. This makes the 320 Series an ideal choice for environments where gas integrity is paramount, such as analytical laboratories, petrochemical testing, and EPA protocol gas handling.

At the heart of the regulator is a convoluted stainless steel diaphragm that provides exceptional sensitivity and precise control over delivery pressure. Unlike elastomeric diaphragms that can degrade or outgas, the stainless steel diaphragm forms a metal-to-metal seal with the body, ensuring maximum leak integrity. This design feature is critical for preventing atmospheric contamination and ensuring that the high purity of the source gas is preserved. The regulator utilizes a PCTFE seat, which offers excellent mechanical strength and chemical resistance, further enhancing the unit's longevity and reliability in harsh service conditions.

Safety and operational stability are core components of the 320 Series design. As a two-stage regulator, it reduces cylinder pressure in two steps, providing a constant delivery pressure of 0-25 PSI regardless of fluctuations in the inlet pressure as the cylinder empties. This eliminates the need for frequent manual adjustments. For safety, the regulator includes captured vent ports (1/16" FNPT) in the bonnet, allowing users to pipe hazardous or toxic gases away to a safe ventilation system in the rare event of a diaphragm failure. The regulator is also designed to withstand internal vacuums, making it compatible with purge cycles necessary for changing out cylinders of hazardous gases.
