OVERVIEW

Precision Control for High Purity Applications

The Miller Smith 321-00-00-00-00 is a premium component from the 320 Silverline Series, engineered specifically for the rigorous demands of high purity and specialty gas delivery. This two-stage regulator is constructed from 316 stainless steel bar stock, making it an exceptional choice for controlling both corrosive and non-corrosive gases where maintaining gas stream purity is paramount. The unit features a delivery pressure range of 0-50 PSI, ideal for analytical instrumentation, chromatography, and other laboratory applications requiring low-pressure stability.

Advanced Material Construction

At the core of this regulator's performance is its material integrity. The body and wetted parts are machined from 316 stainless steel and PCTFE, offering superior resistance to corrosion. A 316 stainless steel filtered seat is integrated to protect the regulator from particulate contamination, thereby extending the service life of the unit and ensuring the purity of the gas stream. The diaphragm is also constructed from convoluted stainless steel, utilizing a metal-to-metal seal that provides maximum leak integrity—a critical feature when handling hazardous or expensive specialty gases.

Stable Two-Stage Performance

As a two-stage regulator, the Miller Smith 320 Series excels in providing a constant delivery pressure regardless of fluctuations in the inlet pressure. As a gas cylinder empties, the inlet pressure drops, which can cause delivery pressure to rise in single-stage regulators (the decaying inlet characteristic). This two-stage design eliminates that variance, ensuring a steady flow rate throughout the life of the cylinder. This stability is essential for processes that cannot tolerate pressure drift.

Safety and Versatility

Safety is engineered into the design with captured vent ports (1/16" FNPT) located in the bonnet. These ports allow for the safe piping and venting of hazardous gases in the unlikely event of a diaphragm failure. The regulator is also designed to withstand internal vacuums, making it suitable for purging operations. Note that a Cross Purge Assembly is recommended for use with this series to ensure effective purging of hazardous gas traces during cylinder changes. With 1/4" FNPT inlet and outlet connections and panel mounting capabilities, this regulator offers versatile integration into various gas delivery systems.
