The Miller 231082 Combo Welding Jacket (Size Large) represents a strategic fusion of materials designed to optimize both protection and comfort for the professional welder. This garment addresses the common trade-off between heavy, hot full-leather jackets and lighter, less protective cotton apparel. By utilizing premium top-grain pigskin leather for the sleeves and shoulders, the jacket provides maximum abrasion and burn resistance in the areas most exposed to spatter and sparks. Pigskin is renowned in the industry for its resilience and ability to withstand oil and water without stiffening, ensuring long-term mobility.

The torso of the jacket is constructed from 9-ounce Indura® flame-resistant cotton. Unlike topical treatments that wash out, Indura® technology impregnates the cotton core with a flame-retardant polymer, guaranteeing flame resistance for the entire life of the garment. This cotton body significantly reduces the overall weight of the jacket and promotes airflow, helping to regulate body temperature during extended welding operations in hot environments. The fabric is pre-shrunk, eliminating the risk of sleeve or hem retraction after laundering, ensuring the fit remains true to its original Large sizing specifications.

Structural integrity is paramount in personal protective equipment (PPE). Miller has sewn this entire jacket using 100% Kevlar® thread. Kevlar® offers exceptional tensile strength and heat resistance, preventing seam failure even under thermal stress. The design includes a Barracuda-style stand-up collar which offers critical coverage for the neck, shielding the skin from arc rays and flying debris. Additional ergonomic features include fold-in sleeve snaps for a secure wrist fit that accommodates gloves, and easy-access slash front pockets. The snap closures are reinforced with leather backing to prevent the fasteners from tearing through the fabric, a common failure point in lesser garments. Hidden chest snaps are also integrated to allow for the attachment of an optional leather bib, providing modular adaptability for overhead welding applications.
