OVERVIEW

Technical Overview: Grade R Oxy-Acetylene Twin Hose

The HOSRH-2402 is a premium-quality Grade R twin welding hose designed specifically for oxy-acetylene applications. This hose assembly features a substantial 3/8-inch inner diameter (I.D.), which distinguishes it from standard 1/4-inch hoses by offering superior flow characteristics. In industrial environments where pressure drop over distance is a concern, or when utilizing high-consumption equipment such as heavy-duty heating nozzles (rosebuds) and large cutting tips, the increased volume provided by a 3/8-inch bore is essential for maintaining stable flame chemistry and preventing starvation at the torch.

The hose is constructed according to RMA/CGA specifications for Grade R welding hose. It features a non-oil-resistant synthetic rubber tube and an oil-and-flame-resistant rubber cover. It is critical to note that Grade R hoses are chemically compatible only with Acetylene gas. They must not be used with alternate fuel gases such as Propane, Propylene, Natural Gas, or MAPP, as these fuels will cause the inner tube to deteriorate, leading to potential leaks and safety hazards. For alternate fuels, a Grade T hose is required. This assembly is rated for a working pressure of 200 PSI, providing a significant safety margin for standard oxy-fuel operations which typically run well below 100 PSI.

The assembly comes complete with factory-crimped standard B-Size (9/16"-18) brass fittings—Right Hand thread for the Oxygen line (Green) and Left Hand thread for the Acetylene line (Red). The reinforcement layer consists of high-tensile synthetic yarn, spiraled to ensure flexibility while maintaining burst strength. The cover is formulated to resist abrasion, weather, and ozone, ensuring longevity in harsh shop environments. This 25-foot length is ideal for stationary bench work or localized fabrication cells where excessive hose length would create tripping hazards or unnecessary pressure loss.

FAQ

No. This is a Grade R hose designed specifically for Acetylene. Propane and other fuel gases will damage the inner tube. You need Grade T hose for Propane.

3/8 inch hose has a larger inner diameter, allowing for greater gas flow. It is recommended for long hose runs or when using heavy-duty heating tips that consume large volumes of gas.

The hose comes with standard B-Size fittings, which are 9/16"-18 threads. Green is Right-Hand thread (Oxygen), and Red is Left-Hand thread (Fuel).

Yes, the rubber construction and spiral reinforcement provide excellent flexibility and resistance to kinking compared to plastic hoses.

This hose is rated for a maximum working pressure of 200 PSI.

No, this SKU is for the hose assembly only. Flash arrestors must be purchased separately and installed at the regulator or torch end.

The hose is color-coded: Green is for Oxygen and Red is for Acetylene. The Red fittings also have a notch on the nut indicating left-hand threads.
