The Lincoln Electric T2687 is a specialized carbon brush engineered for the exciter generator assembly found in many of Lincoln's most durable engine-driven welding machines. In a DC generator welding system, the exciter is responsible for creating the initial magnetic field required by the main generator to produce welding current. The T2687 brush transfers the necessary DC current to the rotating armature of the exciter. Because this component is subject to constant friction and electrical load, it is a consumable item that requires periodic inspection and replacement to maintain machine performance.

Manufactured to strict OEM specifications, this brush utilizes a specific grade of carbon designed to balance conductivity with durability. Using incorrect or generic brushes can lead to excessive commutator wear, increased sparking, and unstable voltage output.
