OVERVIEW

Precision Aluminum Wire Feeding Solution

The Miller M1435 Liner is a specialized consumable component engineered to address the unique tribological challenges of Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) with aluminum filler metals. Unlike standard steel liners, which can cause abrasion and shaving when used with soft aluminum wires (such as 4043 or 5356 series), this liner is constructed from high-grade Teflon. Teflon (PTFE) offers an exceptionally low coefficient of friction, ensuring that the wire glides smoothly through the most critical section of the welding gun: the gooseneck.

This specific liner is designed as a "neck liner" or "jump liner," measuring 8 inches in length. It is intended to reside within the curved neck assembly of compatible MIG guns utilizing the Fastip system. The neck area is prone to the highest friction levels due to the curvature required to direct the arc; consequently, it is the most common site for micro-arcing and wire deformation. By utilizing the M1435 Teflon liner, operators can significantly reduce drag force on the wire feeder drive rolls, thereby minimizing the risk of wire deformation and burn-back.

The liner accommodates a wire diameter range of .047 inches to .062 inches, effectively covering standard 3/64" and 1/16" aluminum wires. Proper installation of this liner is essential for maintaining a stable arc and consistent deposition rates in industrial aluminum fabrication. It serves as a critical interface between the main conduit liner and the contact tip, ensuring the integrity of the wire surface is maintained right up to the point of electrical contact.

FAQ

The M1435 liner is designed for wire diameters ranging from .047 inches (approx. 3/64") to .062 inches (1/16").

This is a neck liner (or jump liner), designed to fit specifically inside the curved gooseneck of the welding gun, rather than running the full length of the cable.

While physically possible, Teflon liners are not recommended for steel wire as the harder steel can wear out the soft Teflon quickly. Steel liners are better suited for steel wire.

Teflon has a very low coefficient of friction and is non-abrasive, preventing the soft aluminum wire from shaving or binding as it passes through the gun.

Yes, the M1435 is a Miller part number, ensuring compatibility with Miller Fastip systems and specific gun models.

Neck liners should be inspected regularly. If you experience erratic feeding or notice wire shaving, the liner may be clogged or worn and should be replaced immediately.

Yes, it works excellently with both 5356 (stiffer) and 4043 (softer) aluminum alloys within the specified diameter range.

It is listed for use with systems utilizing the Fastip configuration and requiring an 8-inch neck liner.
