OVERVIEW

Technical Overview of the Lincoln Electric K3355-3

The Lincoln Electric Magnum PRO AL G225A (K3355-3) is a high-performance air-cooled push-pull welding gun designed specifically for aluminum wire feeding applications. Engineered to overcome the challenges of feeding soft aluminum wire over long distances, this system utilizes a synchronized push-pull mechanism that ensures consistent wire delivery, minimizing bird-nesting and arc instability. The gun is rated at 225 Amps at 60% duty cycle using mixed shielding gases, making it suitable for medium-duty industrial fabrication.

This model features a 35-foot (10.6 meter) cable assembly, providing significant reach for operators working on large structures such as trailers, boats, or signage. The connection interface is a standard 12-pin Amphenol connector, designed to integrate seamlessly with compatible Lincoln Electric wire feeders and power sources that support push-pull gun operation. The "Rear Trigger" configuration places the trigger mechanism at the back of the handle, offering a distinct ergonomic grip that some operators prefer for specific joint access or long-duration welding sessions.

A key technical advantage is the integration of Magnum PRO consumables. The gun utilizes Copper Plus® contact tips, which feature a larger diameter and mass to improve heat dissipation and electrical conductivity. This results in extended tip life and fewer consumable changes compared to standard systems. The internal wire drive path is optimized for aluminum, featuring specific drive rolls and liners that protect the soft wire from deformation during feeding.
