The Miller 194012 is a precision-engineered monocoil liner designed specifically for the transport of welding wires ranging from .035 to .045 inches (0.9 to 1.2 mm) in diameter. As a critical component in the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) process, the liner serves as the conduit through which the electrode wire travels from the drive rolls to the contact tip. This specific unit features a 15-foot length, making it the standard replacement for Miller M-Series MIG guns, including the M-10, M-15, M-25, M-40, M-100, and M-150 models commonly found on Millermatic power sources.
Constructed from high-tensile spring steel wound into a tight monocoil, the liner provides the necessary rigidity to prevent kinking while maintaining the flexibility required for gun manipulation. The internal diameter is strictly controlled to minimize friction and prevent wire buckling (bird-nesting) inside the cable, which is particularly important when pushing softer wires or operating at higher wire feed speeds. Proper liner selection is essential for arc stability; using a liner that is too large for the wire can cause erratic feeding, while a liner that is too small will increase drag and strain the drive motor.
In addition to Miller M-Series compatibility, this liner is engineered to fit Hobart H-Series guns and the Bernard Q150 MIG gun. It is suitable for use with solid steel wires as well as flux-cored and metal-cored wires within the specified diameter range. Regular inspection and replacement of the liner are recommended to maintain weld quality, as accumulation of copper dust, dirt, and drawing lubricants inside the coil can eventually impede wire flow.
