The Miller 202926 is a specialized V-Knurled drive roll engineered specifically for the feeding of tubular welding wires, including self-shielded flux-cored and gas-shielded metal-cored varieties. Unlike smooth V-groove rolls designed for solid wire, this component features a serrated or knurled groove geometry. This texture allows the drive roll to bite into the softer shell of cored wires, providing positive traction with significantly less tension arm pressure. This mechanical advantage is critical for tubular wires, as excessive pressure from smooth rolls can deform the wire's cross-section, leading to poor electrical contact in the contact tip and erratic arc characteristics.

This drive roll features a dual-groove, reversible design, maximizing versatility for the operator. One side of the roll is machined to accommodate .030-inch (0.8 mm) and .035-inch (0.9 mm) wires, while the opposing side is sized for .045-inch (1.2 mm) wires. Using this roll for solid wire is not recommended, as the knurling will mar the copper coating and surface of solid wire, leading to accelerated liner wear and potential contact tip issues.
