The Tweco® 24 Series Nozzle (Part No. HD24L-62) represents a pinnacle in consumable design for heavy-duty MIG welding applications. Engineered specifically for the Tweco SprayMaster® series and compatible MIG guns, this nozzle is rated for operation up to 450 Amps. The construction utilizes 122 DHP (Deoxidized High Phosphorus) copper alloy for the housing, a material selected for its exceptional thermal conductivity and resistance to spatter adhesion. This ensures that the nozzle maintains structural integrity even under the intense thermal cycling typical of industrial welding environments.

This nozzle features a sophisticated 3-piece design. The outer housing is cut and formed from copper alloy tubing, while the inner insert is machined from solid brass. Crucially, a nozzle insulator made from G7 silicone material is integrated to provide the necessary electrical isolation from the gas diffuser. The brass insert is crimped in place, allowing the nozzle to slide smoothly over the metal spring of the gas diffuser for a secure slip-on fit. This specific model offers a 5/8-inch (0.625") bore, which provides a broad gas envelope suitable for spray transfer modes and higher deposition rates.

A defining characteristic of the HD24L-62 is its recessed contact tip relationship. The tip sits recessed between 0.125" and 0.156" (1/8" to 5/32") inside the nozzle. This geometry is advantageous for high-heat applications where a longer electrical stick-out (ESO) is required, or in scenarios where the nozzle face may come into contact with the workpiece, such as during tack or stitch welding. The recess helps protect the contact tip from radiant heat and reduces the risk of short-circuiting against the base metal.
