The Tweco 24FC-150 is a specialized nozzle component designed exclusively for self-shielded Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW-S) applications. Identified by the internal SKU TWE1241-1027, this product is engineered to fit Tweco Professional Number 2 series MIG guns, as well as the Tweco Mini-MIG and various 180-200 amp welding torches that utilize the standard Tweco 24-series front-end consumables. Unlike standard gas nozzles which are designed to direct shielding gas over the weld pool, the 24FC-150 serves primarily as a protective insulator and thread guard.

In gasless welding processes, the shielding gas is generated by the vaporization of the flux core within the wire, negating the need for external gas cylinders and the large brass nozzles typically used to funnel that gas. However, removing the nozzle entirely exposes the gas diffuser threads and the contact tip holder to intense heat and molten spatter. The 24FC-150 solves this engineering challenge by covering the sensitive threads of the gas diffuser (such as the Tweco 52 or 52FN) and providing electrical insulation at the tip of the gun. This prevents spatter from fusing to the threads, which would otherwise render the diffuser difficult or impossible to remove during maintenance.

The nozzle is constructed from high-temperature resistant materials capable of withstanding the radiant heat of the arc without deforming. Its profile is significantly slimmer than a standard gas nozzle, which grants the operator superior visibility of the weld puddle and the arc—a critical factor in maintaining proper stick-out and travel speed during flux core welding.
