Unlike standard phenolic or basic ceramic compounds, the materials used in the 20282XL are selected to maintain dielectric strength even at elevated temperatures, preventing high-frequency leakage and ensuring the pilot arc transfers correctly to the workpiece.


Functionally, the heat shield serves a dual purpose: mechanical protection and gas flow management. Mechanically, it acts as the first line of defense for the nozzle and electrode, shielding them from the direct backsplash of molten dross during piercing and cutting operations.
