The ESAB 45V05 is a premium Gas Lens Collet Body designed specifically for use with HW-20, WP-20, and WP-9 series TIG torches. Engineered to accommodate 1/8-inch (3.2mm) tungsten electrodes, this component is essential for applications requiring superior shielding gas coverage and arc stability. Unlike standard collet bodies which can create turbulent gas flow, the 45V05 utilizes a multi-layer fine mesh screen to rectify the gas stream into a coherent, laminar column. This technical enhancement significantly reduces the Reynolds number of the shielding gas flow, minimizing the entrainment of atmospheric air into the weld zone.

By stabilizing the gas flow, this gas lens allows for extended electrode stick-out distances—often up to six times the electrode diameter—without compromising the inert atmosphere around the molten pool. This feature is critical for accessing restricted joints, such as fillet welds in deep grooves or pipe root passes, where standard nozzle configurations would fail to provide adequate coverage. The body is machined from high-quality brass and copper alloys to ensure optimal electrical conductivity and thermal management within the torch head.

Installation requires the use of compatible gas lens alumina nozzles (cups) and standard 1/8-inch collets.
