The Weldcraft R17F is a premium replacement torch head designed for the A-150 series (formerly known as the WP-17 series) of air-cooled TIG torches. Engineered by Miller Electric under the Weldcraft brand, this component serves as the core conductive body for the torch assembly. It is rated for a welding output of 150 Amperes, making it suitable for a wide range of light to medium-duty industrial applications. The unit features a 90-degree angle orientation relative to the handle, which is the standard configuration for general-purpose manual gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW).

A defining technical characteristic of the R17F is its flexible neck mechanism. Unlike rigid torch bodies, the coil-reinforced copper neck allows the operator to physically bend the head to various angles. This capability is critical for maintaining proper electrode angles in restricted spaces or complex pipe geometries. The body is encased in high-temperature red silicone rubber insulation. This material is specifically selected for its dielectric strength and resistance to cracking or hardening under thermal cycling, offering superior longevity compared to standard phenolic or hard rubber compounds.

The R17F is designed to interface seamlessly with standard 17-series consumables, including collets, collet bodies, and gas cups. It connects directly to Weldcraft 150TB and 150VTB torch handles. The internal copper construction ensures minimal electrical resistance, reducing heat buildup within the head itself during prolonged welding operations.
