The Arcair K-5 Extreme Gouging Torch is a premier tool designed for the most rigorous air carbon-arc gouging applications. Technically, the K-5 Extreme is optimized for performance and longevity. It utilizes a specialized four-hole head assembly that streamlines air flow directly to the arc zone. This design ensures that the 80 psi (30 cfm) compressed air supply is used efficiently to blast away molten metal, resulting in cleaner grooves and reduced post-process grinding. A key technical advantage is the Air Assist Positive Air Shut-Off valve. This feature automatically stops air flow when the torch is not in use, preventing the unnecessary cycling of air compressors and ensuring that the torch can operate effectively even when the facility's air supply is marginal.
The cable assembly itself is a critical component of the K-5's reliability. It features an improved electrical conduction path that significantly reduces heat build-up within the cable and handle, a common issue in high-amperage gouging.
