OVERVIEW

Precision Acetylene Monitoring for Industrial Regulators

The Gauge 50mm * 400 PSI Red LBM STL is a high-quality replacement component designed for the rigorous demands of industrial gas regulation. Specifically engineered for use with Acetylene gas, this gauge features a pressure range of 0 to 400 PSI (pounds per square inch), making it the standard choice for monitoring cylinder contents (high-pressure side) on most acetylene regulators. The 400 PSI scale is perfectly calibrated to accommodate the typical full-cylinder pressure of acetylene, which generally stabilizes around 250 PSI, providing a clear and safe margin for reading.

Constructed with a durable steel case (STL), this gauge is built to withstand the mechanical stresses and potential impacts common in welding workshops, fabrication plants, and construction sites. The 50mm (approximately 2-inch) dial face offers an optimal balance between compactness and readability, ensuring that operators can quickly verify gas levels from a distance. The "Red" designation in the specification typically alludes to the industry-standard color coding for fuel gases, ensuring immediate visual identification and preventing dangerous cross-connection with oxygen or inert gas systems.

This unit features a Lower Back Mount (LBM) configuration, a common connection style for many industrial regulators where the gauge threads into the back of the regulator body or a specific port orientation. It is essential for maintaining safety and efficiency in oxy-fuel cutting and welding operations. A functioning content gauge allows for proper inventory management, ensuring that cylinders are changed out before they run empty during critical work. This gauge meets standard accuracy requirements for welding service and is compatible with a wide range of regulator brands requiring a 50mm, 400 PSI specification.

FAQ

Most 50mm (2-inch) welding gauges typically use a 1/4" NPT or 1/8" NPT thread. Please verify your regulator's port size before ordering, though 1/4" NPT is very common for this dial size.

This gauge is rated for 400 PSI, which is the standard range for Acetylene Cylinder (contents) gauges. Oxygen cylinder gauges require a much higher range (usually 3000 or 4000 PSI). Do not use this on high-pressure oxygen cylinders.

LBM stands for Lower Back Mount. This indicates that the threaded connection stem comes out of the back of the gauge case, near the lower edge or center, rather than from the bottom of the circle.

While the pressure range (400 PSI) is sufficient for Propane cylinder pressure, you must ensure the materials are compatible. Generally, acetylene gauges are compatible with other fuel gases, but always check local safety codes regarding color coding and labeling.

A steel case provides superior durability and impact resistance compared to plastic or thin brass cases, making it suitable for industrial environments where equipment may be subjected to rough handling.

Ensure the system is depressurized. Remove the old gauge using a wrench on the brass stem (never twist the case). Apply a small amount of PTFE tape or paste approved for gas service to the threads of the new gauge, and tighten it into the port until snug and oriented correctly.

A full acetylene cylinder typically reads approximately 250 PSI at 70°F. This 400 PSI gauge places that reading near the middle-upper range of the dial for easy visibility.

The description indicates 'RED', which usually means the face has red markings or a red zone to indicate it is for Fuel Gas service, distinguishing it from Green (Oxygen) gauges.
