OVERVIEW

Precision Acetylene Monitoring

The Western Enterprises PG25-400 is a specialized pressure gauge designed for the high-pressure inlet side of Acetylene regulators. In industrial gas applications, the accuracy and reliability of pressure monitoring equipment are paramount for both safety and operational efficiency. This gauge features a calibrated scale ranging from 0 to 400 PSI, providing a precise reading of the cylinder's contents. Since a full acetylene cylinder typically rests at approximately 250 PSI at 70°F, this scale offers the ideal range to monitor capacity without the compressed scale issues found in higher-pressure gauges.

Robust Construction

Engineered for the harsh environments of welding shops and industrial sites, this gauge is built with a durable gold-painted steel case that resists corrosion and impact. The internal mechanism is constructed from high-quality brass, ensuring compatibility with acetylene gas and providing consistent, repeatable measurements. The 2.5-inch dial face is protected by a shatter-resistant polycarbonate lens, which offers superior durability compared to standard glass, reducing the risk of breakage during transport or accidental impact.

Standardized Compatibility

This gauge utilizes a standard 1/4-inch NPT bottom mount connection, making it a universal replacement for the vast majority of industrial acetylene regulators on the market. Whether you are refurbishing older equipment or replacing a damaged component on a Victor, Harris, or generic regulator, this gauge provides a seamless fit. The clear markings and high-contrast needle allow for quick visual checks from a distance, ensuring operators can maintain awareness of their gas supply at all times.

Safety and Compliance

Using the correct gauge for the specific gas service is critical. This gauge is specifically designed for Acetylene service, adhering to industry standards for low-to-medium pressure fuel gases. It is not suitable for Oxygen or high-pressure inert gases, ensuring that your equipment setup remains safe and compliant with safety regulations.

FAQ

This gauge has a standard 1/4-inch NPT male thread located at the bottom of the case.

No. Oxygen cylinders have pressures up to 2000+ PSI. Using a 400 PSI gauge on an oxygen tank will cause the gauge to burst immediately, which is dangerous. This is for Acetylene only.

This is an inlet gauge, meaning it measures the pressure inside the tank (contents). It reads 0-400 PSI.

Unscrew the old gauge. Apply Teflon tape or thread sealant to the threads of the new gauge. Screw it into the regulator port by hand, then tighten with a wrench using the square brass stem. Do not tighten by gripping the round case.

The dial face is 2.5 inches in diameter.

Gauges are typically selected so that the normal operating pressure falls within the middle third of the scale for best accuracy and safety margin.

The lens is made of polycarbonate (plastic), which is more resistant to impact and shattering than glass.
