At the core of this helmet is Lincoln's proprietary 4C® Lens Technology. Unlike traditional auto-darkening filters (ADF) that often impart a lime-green tint to the view, 4C technology utilizes a specialized liquid crystal display (LCD) formulation to enhance the visible color spectrum. This results in a view that is true-to-life, allowing the operator to distinguish base material colors, arc subtleties, and the weld puddle with unprecedented clarity. The lens boasts a perfect 1/1/1/1 optical clarity rating according to EN379 standards, signifying zero blurriness, distortion, shade inconsistency, or angle non-uniformity.
The ADF cartridge offers a substantial viewing area of 9.3 square inches (3.82 x 2.44 inches), providing a wide field of view that enhances spatial awareness and control. It features four independent arc sensors that ensure reliable switching from light to dark in 1/25,000 of a second, even when the arc is partially obstructed. The shade range is variable from 5 to 13, making it suitable for a vast array of processes including Stick, TIG, MIG, and Flux-Cored welding. The low-amperage TIG rating of 2 Amps (AC/DC) ensures performance even in precision applications.
Structurally, the helmet is equipped with the X6 Headgear system. This suspension system is designed to distribute the helmet's 20.5 oz weight evenly across the cranium, reducing pressure points and operator fatigue during extended shifts. The shell features an external, low-profile grind control button, allowing the user to switch between weld and grind modes without removing the helmet or lifting the front, thereby maintaining safety compliance and workflow momentum. Power is supplied by solar cells assisted by two replaceable CR2450 lithium batteries, ensuring long operational life.
