Designed to address the critical need for source capture without consuming valuable floor space, this system integrates a high-efficiency filtration unit with a powerful extraction fan and an articulated arm. The core of the system is the K3681-1 base unit, which houses a substantial 568 square foot (52 m²) pleated filter. This large surface area is critical for maintaining a low air-to-cloth ratio, which directly correlates to filtration efficiency and filter longevity. The included filter set (KP2752-16) is rated at MERV 16, capable of capturing particulate matter in the sub-micron range with 99.999% efficiency, making it suitable for applications involving hexavalent chromium and other hazardous heavy metals.

A defining feature of this configuration is the mechanized cleaning system. Unlike passive filter units that require frequent manual replacement, the Prism® utilizes an integrated cleaning mechanism—typically pressure-based or timer-actuated—to dislodge accumulated particulate from the filter media into a collection bin. This active maintenance of the filter media ensures that the static pressure remains within the operating range of the Prism 2400 fan (K1656-9) for longer periods, delivering a consistent airflow of approximately 735 CFM. The fan itself is a 1 HP, 115V, single-phase unit, optimized for the impedance of the arm and filter bank.

The system includes the K1655-8 flexible extraction arm, which provides a 10-foot reach, allowing the operator to position the hood directly over the weld pool. The unit also features an integrated spark arrestor (KP1673-6), which serves a dual purpose: it prevents large incandescent particles from reaching the combustible filter media, and it acts as a pre-filter to separate coarser dust before it reaches the primary MERV 16 filter.
