The Lincoln Electric K3685-1 Power Wave® Advanced Module is a critical expansion unit designed for industrial fabrication environments requiring maximum process flexibility. Engineered specifically for the 3rd Generation Power Wave® S-Series (S350, S500) and R-Series (R450) power sources, this module bridges the gap between standard DC performance and advanced waveform capabilities. By integrating this module, facilities can unlock complex welding modes including Alternating Current (AC) for aluminum applications, Surface Tension Transfer (STT®) for precision root passes, and Rapid X® for high-speed, low-spatter deposition.

Technically, the module interfaces seamlessly with the host power source via the ArcLink® digital communication protocol, ensuring real-time synchronization and control. It serves as a high-frequency generator for GTAW (TIG) starting, eliminating the need for touch-start methods in critical applications. The unit also supports Low Fume Pulse® modes, which significantly reduce particulate generation in heavy welding operations. The inclusion of differential inputs and outputs facilitates Sync Tandem configurations, making it an asset for automated and robotic cells where precise arc control is paramount. Note that this module is designed for specific generation firmware and hardware; it is not compatible with the Power Wave S700.
