The Fronius TransPocket 180 represents the next generation of portable SMAW (Stick) and TIG welding technology, succeeding the widely acclaimed TransPocket 1500. At its core lies a fully digital resonance inverter control system. Unlike traditional inverters, the resonance concept allows for an extremely rapid response to arc changes, ensuring a near-perfect output characteristic. This results in minimal spatter and optimized ignition properties, regardless of the electrode type used—including difficult cellulosic (6010) electrodes.

Power Factor Correction (PFC) & Efficiency

Engineered for industrial versatility, the TransPocket 180 incorporates Power Factor Correction (PFC) technology. This system shapes the input current consumption to be sinusoidal, maximizing the effective power drawn from the grid. Consequently, the machine operates efficiently on standard 120V or 230V household circuits (Multi-Voltage) and can sustain full output power even when connected to extension cables up to 100 meters (328 feet) in length. This makes it an indispensable tool for site work where power sources are distant or unreliable.

Robust Build & Intelligent Features

The unit is housed in a rugged, impact-resistant plastic casing rated at IP23, protecting internal components from dust and water spray, ideal for harsh field environments. The integrated 7-segment display provides clear visibility of welding parameters. Advanced software features include:
