It is specifically designed for joining Types 302, 304, and 304L stainless steels, as well as cast alloys such as A743 and A744 Type CF-8. The 'L' designation indicates a low carbon content (0.04% max), which is critical for preventing intergranular corrosion and carbide precipitation in the heat-affected zone during service.

One of the defining characteristics of the Excalibur® series is the Q2 Lot® program. Each lot is manufactured under controlled conditions, and a certificate showing the actual deposit composition and ferrite number (FN) is available online. This level of traceability is essential for industries such as petrochemical, food and beverage processing, and pharmaceutical manufacturing where material compliance is mandatory. The electrodes are packaged in hermetically sealed Easy Open Cans, ensuring the flux coating remains dry and hydrogen-controlled until the moment of use, thereby reducing the risk of porosity.
