Technical Overview of Easy-Flo 35 Silver Brazing Alloy

Easy-Flo 35 is a classic, cadmium-bearing silver brazing filler metal formulated to provide a low melting temperature and a narrow melting range. Classified as BAg-2 under AWS standards, this alloy typically contains 35% Silver, 26% Copper, 21% Zinc, and 18% Cadmium. The inclusion of cadmium significantly depresses the liquidus temperature, allowing for brazing at lower heat inputs compared to cadmium-free alternatives. This characteristic is critical when joining base metals susceptible to grain growth or heat distortion.

The alloy is engineered for general-purpose applications involving ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including steel, stainless steel, copper, and brass. One of its defining technical attributes is its ability to bridge larger joint clearances (loose fit-ups) better than more fluid alloys like Easy-Flo 45. While it flows freely, it has a slightly wider plastic range that assists in capping fillets on joints with imperfect tolerances. The 1/16" (1.6mm) diameter wire is supplied in a 1kg coil, suitable for manual feeding or automated setups requiring continuous wire.

Safety Note: This product contains Cadmium. During heating, it releases cadmium oxide fumes which are highly toxic and known carcinogens. Strict adherence to safety protocols, including the use of local exhaust ventilation and appropriate respiratory protection (such as P100 respirators), is mandatory. It should not be used for potable water systems or food processing equipment.
