OVERVIEW

High-Performance Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum Electrode

The Exocor ENiCrMo-3 Coated Electrode is a premium Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) consumable designed for the most demanding industrial applications. Commonly referred to as Inconel 625, this electrode deposits a nickel-chromium-molybdenum weld metal that offers outstanding resistance to severe corrosion environments. It is specifically engineered to combat pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress-corrosion cracking, making it an essential material for industries dealing with aggressive chemicals, seawater, and high-temperature service.

This 1/8-inch (3.2mm) diameter electrode operates on Direct Current Electrode Positive (DCEP), providing a stable, controllable arc that facilitates all-position welding. The flux coating is formulated to produce a fluid puddle with excellent wetting action, ensuring smooth tie-ins and a bead profile that requires minimal post-weld grinding. The slag system is designed for easy removal, reducing cleanup time and the risk of slag inclusions in multi-pass welds. With a tensile strength typically exceeding 110,000 psi, the deposited metal retains high strength and toughness ranging from cryogenic temperatures up to 1800°F (982°C).

Technical Application & Metallurgy

The ENiCrMo-3 classification is the industry standard for welding nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys to themselves, to steel, and to other nickel-base alloys. It is widely used for cladding steel with nickel-chromium-molybdenum weld metal and for welding the clad side of joints in steel with nickel-chromium-molybdenum lining. The high molybdenum content (typically 8-10%) works in synergy with niobium to stiffen the alloy matrix, providing high strength without the need for heat treatment. This makes it particularly suitable for the fabrication of pollution control equipment, reaction vessels, and piping systems in the petrochemical and power generation sectors.

Key Industrial Uses

  • Marine & Offshore: Welding of piping and equipment exposed to seawater and salt spray.
  • Chemical Processing: Fabrication of tanks and heat exchangers handling acids and alkalis.
  • Power Generation: Components in nuclear and fossil fuel plants requiring high creep resistance.
  • Aerospace: Engine exhaust systems and ducting requiring high-temperature stability.

FAQ

This electrode is classified as AWS A5.11 ENiCrMo-3, commonly known as Inconel 625.

You should use Direct Current Electrode Positive (DCEP), also known as DC+ or Reverse Polarity.

Yes, ENiCrMo-3 is an excellent choice for dissimilar metal welding, such as joining carbon steel to stainless steel or nickel alloys, due to its tolerance for dilution.

Yes, like most high-quality basic coated electrodes, it is recommended to store opened packages in a rod oven (typically 200°F-300°F) to prevent moisture absorption and porosity.

The weld metal typically has a tensile strength of over 110,000 psi (760 MPa), depending on welding parameters and base metal dilution.

Yes, the 1/8" diameter ENiCrMo-3 is an all-position electrode, suitable for flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead welding.

The primary elements are Nickel (balance), Chromium (~20-23%), Molybdenum (~8-10%), and Niobium (~3-4%).

This product comes in a 10lb (approx. 4.54kg) tube.
