The Hobart SDX S2Si is a premium copper-coated solid wire designed specifically for the Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) process. Classified as AWS A5.17 EM12K, this wire is engineered with a medium manganese and silicon composition, providing excellent deoxidation properties. This chemical balance makes it highly effective for welding over mild rust and mill scale, ensuring sound weld deposits even in less-than-perfect surface conditions. The 1/8-inch (3.2mm) diameter is optimized for heavy fabrication tasks where high deposition rates and deep penetration are required.
