OVERVIEW

Lincoln Electric ER410NiMo TIG Welding Rod

The Lincoln Electric ER410NiMo TIG Welding Rod is a specialized martensitic stainless steel filler metal designed for critical fabrication and repair applications. Engineered to meet AWS A5.9 specifications, this rod is primarily utilized for welding materials of similar chemical composition, such as ASTM CA6NM castings, as well as for overlaying carbon and low-alloy steels. The alloy composition includes nominally 12% chromium, 4.5% nickel, and 0.55% molybdenum.

Unlike standard ER410 electrodes, the addition of nickel and molybdenum in the ER410NiMo formula significantly enhances the metallurgical properties of the weld deposit. These elements work to suppress the formation of delta ferrite and reduce the as-welded hardness, thereby greatly increasing toughness and resistance to cracking. This makes the rod particularly suitable for high-stress environments where mechanical integrity is paramount.

This filler metal is extensively used in the power generation industry, specifically for the fabrication and repair of hydroelectric turbine runners, steam turbine components, valves, and pumps. To ensure the highest quality weld and to prevent cracking, preheat and interpass temperatures of 300°F to 400°F (150°C - 200°C) are typically recommended. Furthermore, post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) is often required to achieve the desired ductility and toughness in the finished weldment.

Packaged in a convenient 10lb tube, these cut lengths are manufactured to Lincoln Electric's rigorous quality standards, ensuring consistent feeding, stable arc characteristics, and exceptional bead appearance. Whether used for joining cast stainless sections or surfacing applications, the ER410NiMo provides a reliable, high-performance solution for industrial welding challenges.

FAQ

It is primarily used for welding cast martensitic stainless steels like ASTM CA6NM and for repairing hydro turbine runners, valves, and pumps.

ER410NiMo contains added nickel and molybdenum, which improves toughness and resistance to cracking compared to standard ER410.

Yes, preheat and interpass temperatures of 300°F - 400°F are typically recommended to prevent cracking.

100% Argon is the standard shielding gas for TIG welding with this alloy.

Yes, it is frequently used to overlay mild and low-alloy steels to provide a corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant surface.

Post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) is usually required to restore ductility and toughness to the weld zone.

These rods are supplied in a 10lb tube.
