The Exocor ER347 Stainless Steel MIG Wire is a specialized consumable designed for the welding of stabilized chromium-nickel stainless steels, specifically types 347 and 321. This wire is distinguished by the addition of Niobium (also known as Columbium), which acts as a stabilizing agent. In high-temperature environments, standard stainless steels can suffer from chromium carbide precipitation at the grain boundaries, leading to intergranular corrosion. The Niobium in ER347 preferentially combines with carbon, preventing this depletion of chromium and ensuring the weld maintains its corrosion resistance even after exposure to temperatures between 400°C and 800°C.
