OVERVIEW

Premium ERNiCrMo-4 TIG Welding Rod for Extreme Environments

The Josef Gas ERNiCrMo-4 (commonly known as Alloy C-276) TIG welding rod is a high-performance nickel-molybdenum-chromium-tungsten filler metal designed for the most demanding industrial applications. Engineered to meet AWS A5.14 specifications, this rod delivers exceptional weld integrity in environments where corrosion resistance is paramount. The 1/16" (1.6mm) diameter provides precise control for root passes and thin-wall tubing often found in chemical processing plants.

This alloy is specifically formulated to resist pitting and crevice corrosion, making it the industry standard for welding C-276 base metals. It also exhibits outstanding resistance to a wide range of chemical process environments, including strong oxidizers like ferric and cupric chlorides, hot contaminated media (organic and inorganic), chlorine, formic and acetic acids, acetic anhydride, and seawater and brine solutions. The addition of tungsten enhances its stability and strength in high-temperature applications.

Fabricators rely on this filler metal for its versatility. Beyond welding C-276 to itself, it is an excellent choice for dissimilar welding applications, such as joining nickel-based alloys to steel or stainless steel. The low carbon content ensures that carbide precipitation is minimized during the welding heat cycle, maintaining corrosion resistance in the as-welded structures. Each 10lb tube is carefully packaged to prevent contamination, ensuring that your TIG welds remain clean, porous-free, and structurally sound.

FAQ

This rod is classified as AWS A5.14 ERNiCrMo-4.

100% Argon is the standard shielding gas for TIG welding with this alloy. Helium mixtures can be used for thicker sections to increase heat input.

Yes, ERNiCrMo-4 is often used for dissimilar welding, including joining nickel alloys to steel or stainless steel, due to its ability to accommodate dilution without cracking.

Its primary advantage is exceptional resistance to a wide variety of chemical environments, including strong oxidizers, acids, and wet chlorine.

Yes, as a TIG rod, it can be used in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead) depending on the welder's skill and puddle control.

The rod is 1/16 inch (1.6mm) in diameter and 36 inches in length.

2% Lanthanated (Blue) or 2% Ceriated (Grey) tungsten electrodes are generally recommended for DCEN TIG welding of nickel alloys.
